On , March 28, 2017, Reverend Dr. Hattie L. Downer, a pioneer and pilgram of world-wide missionary work and the Founder of the Cathedral of Joy Church of God in Brooklyn NY, passed away at the age of 102. The Cathedral of Joy has created a go fund me campaign is an effort to maintain her legacy and love of youth and education. Dr.Downer was a life-long advocate for education and the access it affords youth and people of all ages.

In honor of Dr. Downer's unwavering love and support of youth and the pursuit of higher education, the Cathedral of Joy has set-up a go fund me page to continue to provide scholarships in Dr.Downer's name to deserving students.
